Nearly all hotels offer package options designed to enhance a guest’s stay and overall experience. But some resorts are offering truly extravagant amenities. From the quirky to the just plain bizarre, some hotels have determined that these odd extras are exactly what they need to set them apart from the rest of the pack.

Even stranger, guests are willing to pay excessive amounts for these services. However weird and wild the offering may be, guests can be certain that they’ll receive a genuinely memorable experience and some seriously unique stories to pass along.

10 Happy Guest Lodge

10-goldfish-in-hotel-room_000028058468_Small

The name really says it all. At the Happy Guest Hotel in Warrington, UK, the staff just wants to please their guests. They are willing to go the extra mile to make that happen, even if it means accommodating the lonely customer.

The management provides clients with a unique service—a sleeping partner in the form of a goldfish. Guests who opt for this scaly company are charged £5 and a goldfish named “Happy” is placed in their rooms.

The hotel’s website boasts that the world-famous goldfish provides guests with company for the evening and instills a sense of joy in the client, one that creates a truly interesting environment. Guests making a reservation online can book Happy ahead of time to ensure that their little buddy will be waiting in their room upon arrival.

So why a goldfish?

Well, the hotel’s owner believes that this little fish provides a sense of comfort, a sounding board, and unconditional love to the guest after a hard day. The owner states that clients may even find themselves missing Happy between stays. Never fear, though. Happy or his stand-in will be available for your next stay.

9 Family Pillow Fight Package

Combining the nostalgia of a slumber party with the comforts of a five-star resort sounds like the perfect combo. The Ritz-Carlton has long been known as a top hotel, offering several services to enhance a guest’s experience.

However, the Ritz in Palm Beach, Florida, offers some extra-special attention to guests traveling as a family—the family pillow fight package. This package costs a whopping $60 and includes a bag of satin pillows, a CD, and a book of family games to play together.

Although the cost of this family package may seem rather steep, the management at the Ritz believes that it provides an opportunity for families to bond over fun and feathers. Songs on the included CD are meant to rile up the pillow participants, featuring classics like “Hit Me With Your Best Shot.”

8 Swimsuit Vending Machines

8-bathing-suits_000065227491_Small

We are all familiar with packing in a hurry and forgetting some of the most essential items for a marvelous vacation, like a bathing suit. To avoid taking a dip in your birthday suit or heading over to the hotel gift shop which so often stocks less than stylish options, the Standard Hotel chain has come up with a rather innovative solution—a bathing suit dispenser.

The vending machine offers big name brands like Quiksilver and style options for both men and women. Available in an array of different sizes and colors, the designs are inspired by the look and feel of the hotel chain.

The machine even prints local hot spots on the waistband so that guests can hit the town after their dip in the pool. The trunks and two-piece suits are not cheap, however. Expect to spend at least $75 if you forget your suit.

7 Dog Surfing Lessons

7-surfer-dog_000049245308_Small

The Su’ruff Camp at Loews Coronado Bay Resort & Spa offers a unique opportunity to give our furry friends a chance to ride the waves. The surfing camp at this San Diego–based hotel caters specifically to Fido, giving him a chance to shred some waves instead of shredding his toys. The owner of the surf academy believes that all dogs have the ability to surf; it simply takes a little training.

The hotel holds an annual dog surfing contest where all breeds can come together and compete for the honor of best surfing pooch. Other pet perks at the hotel include pet walkers, pet sitters, and even a special pet room service menu with all types of canine delicacies. The pets are treated as true VIPets when they come to Loews.

6 Fragrance Butler

Providing the perfect scent for guests is important to the staff at Rosewood Hotel properties. It’s a rather brilliant move given that TSA restrictions severely limit the amount of liquid that a passenger can bring on a plane.

Rosewood Hotels has designed their olfactory experience in a truly luxurious manner, with a fragrance butler serving up a variety of bottled perfumes and colognes.

Available for sniffing 24 hours a day, the butler features top brands such as Hermes, Chanel, Givenchy, and Dior. Each hotel has a curated list of scents that reflect the setting of the resort. If someone wishes to mist themselves in a specific scent, they simply ring up the butler and he will arrive, silver tray in hand.

5 Bird Delivers Engagement Ring

5-engagement-ring_000025154644_Small

At the Ashford Castle in Ireland, a guest who is planning to pop the question to his significant other has the option to deliver the engagement ring in a truly memorable fashion—by owl. Dingle is a European eagle owl that has been living at the castle since 1999 and has talons large enough to clutch a sizeable rock.

There are many birds living on the grounds as the castle has a falconry school. Guests can take classes with the animals to learn about the ancient form of falconry. Of all the birds on the grounds, none is more popular than Dingle, perhaps because of his romantic job.

The three-night proposal package offered by the hotel includes a couple’s massage, champagne, a boat ride, a cozy dinner by candlelight, and the grand finish—Dingle swooping in to deliver the ring. With a cost of around $2,000, this service fills up quickly because it is probably one of the coolest ways to pop the question.

4 V-Day Haters Package

4-alone-on-valentines-day_000037038800_Small

One hotel chain has become creative with their unromantic “I Hate Valentine’s Day Package,” especially for guests who are opting to enjoy this Hallmark holiday their own way.

For those who wish to celebrate the holiday solo, Night and the Time Hotels in New York has quite the evening planned. It begins with a table for one at the upscale restaurant Serafina where the diner will be given a free double shot of liquor upon arrival. If the guest decides that he or she would rather stay in, the hotel sets up the “adult entertainment” channel in the room for 24 hours of viewing pleasure.

The housekeeping staff also offers a special turndown service for the haters, which is known as the “Love Hurts” turndown. It includes black candles, a box of tissues, two mini bottles of tequila, all-you-can-eat ice cream, and a wide array of breakup movies. For the morning after, the hotel staff provides guests with the final hurrah—breakfast in bed and a few self-help books.

3 Best Man For Hire

3-best-man_000003479049_Small

The Best Man for Hire service at South Carolina’s Wild Dunes Resort ensures that the groom will not be without a companion on the big day. The hotel insists that the groom be fawned over and receive the attention that the bride traditionally gets on her special day.

Thus, the Best Man for Hire package aims at providing the ultimate wingman. This pseudo best man will not disappoint his groomzilla, handling everything from delivering the perfect best man speech to administering CPR on a wedding attendee in trouble.

Obviously, a couple who employs this best man is doing so with a sense of humor and deep pockets because his services are certainly not cheap. The groom can expect to pay $150 per hour, $650 for a half day, $1000 for a full day, and $2000 for a weekend.

2 Personal Oxygen Devices

2-oxygen-device_000024456374_Small

Although the air in Boston is certainly not as polluted as many other big cities around the world, that is not stopping Boston’s Revere Hotel from selling personal oxygen devices (PODs) to its guests.

For those who want them, the PODs are available at $40 a pop in all of the hotel’s suites. That may seem inexpensive at first, but the PODs contain only 2.5 ounces of oxygen. That’s a full 40 breaths, which comes out to a whopping $1 per inhale.

According to the Revere, the 18-centimeter (7 in) oxygen bottle is sleek and perfect for traveling around town. It fits easily inside a handbag. Apparently, the POD offers a rich, refreshing dose of clean pure air that will revive the busy tourist. The hotel also states that the bottle can be used with one hand and requires minimal effort.

1 Robot Staff

Technology surprises us at every turn. For example, the Henn-na Hotel in Japan uses a robot staff to help guests with their every need. The robots check in guests, carry luggage to rooms, and make cups of coffee. The robots are known as “actroids,” a type of humanoid robot.

The actroids closely resemble young Japanese girls, even down to hand gestures, facial expressions, and speech. The robots are known to giggle at guests’ remarks and have the ability to switch languages between Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean.

The humanlike robots were created at Osaka University and manufactured by Kokoro, the same company that licenses Hello Kitty. The university has been working on the actroids for well over a decade and continuously strives to make them more advanced. The robots even have software to sense moods.

10 Awesomely Over-The-Top Make-A-Wish Tales https://listorati.com/10-awesomely-over-the-top-make-a-wish-tales/ https://listorati.com/10-awesomely-over-the-top-make-a-wish-tales/#respond Wed, 27 Mar 2024 10:25:46 +0000 https://listorati.com/10-awesomely-over-the-top-make-a-wish-tales/

The Make-A-Wish Foundation began in 1980 with a mission to help fulfill the dreams of children with serious illnesses. The stories from the charity are often bittersweet as thousands of kids get to have the experience of a lifetime but their illness and struggles loom heavy. Still, the work they do is incredible and for a lot of children, the experience really is like a literal wish come true.

Many children wish to meet a favorite celebrity or character, others want to go on trips to places like Disney World but some kids use their opportunity to go all out and reach for the stars. The results have been pretty incredible.

10. A Leukemia Survivor’s Wish Was To Blow Things Up

What do 12-year-old boys like? It doesn’t matter where or when you ask this question, some answers are going to be universal. You can put money on a large number of boys who are into action movies, for instance. You know, stuff like Star Wars or the MCU. Stuff where everything is fast-paced and things blow up. And if you distill that down a little bit, you could make a good case that 12-year-old boys like stuff that blows up. And so here we are.

In 2016, a boy named Declan from Australia who was being treated for leukemia got to have his wish granted and it was a simple one. Declan wanted to make things explode

The boy was just about finished his cancer treatments and his prognosis was good so you can look at this like it was a big, bombastic celebratory event. Like fireworks only more chaotic.

As unusual as the wish may sound, it came together with the help of both law enforcement and the military. The Australian Federal Police’s Specialist Response Group ran Declan through a hostage scenario, training with armored cars, and breaching exercises which involved him exploding doors and walls to gain entrance to buildings. One of the explosive pros said he had “quite an aptitude for it.”

Later he got to meet up with some US Marines and spend time on a police boat as well, to round out the entire experience.

9. A 13-Year-Old Used His Wish to Feed the Homeless for a Year

Every once in a while you come across a person who has a deep understanding of selflessness. It’s hard to be that way, honestly, and that’s okay. Most of us are worried about ourselves and those close to us and it’s hard to be in a position, whether that’s mentally, emotionally, or financially, to worry about a wider circle of people than that. But Adeola Abraham Olagbegi was a boy who had that wider outlook.

The 13-year-old had been diagnosed with aplastic anemia, a serious and potentially fatal condition, and received a bone marrow transplant. When Make-A-Wish presented him with the opportunity to have a wish granted, he asked if they could feed the homeless people where he lived for a year.

The foundation put together something called Abraham’s Table. Every third Saturday of the month they provided meals for the homeless in his hometown of Jackson. Each dinner provides for about 80 people.

8. A Kid Wished To Visit the Thor: Ragnarok Set and Came Up With One Of Its Most Famous Lines

There have been four Thor films in the MCU so far and Thor: Ragnarok has been hands down the most popular one. It features a memorable scene in which Thor is forced to fight in a gladiatorial arena and once he gets in; he discovers his opponent is the Hulk, who’s been missing since the end of Age of Ultron. Instead of reacting poorly, Thor celebrates and tells everyone that the Hulk is a friend from work. It’s a funny line and went over really well.

That line was not in the original script nor was it improvised by Chris Hemsworth. Instead, according to director Taika Waititi, there was a child on set as part of his Make-A-Wish wish. He got to meet Hemsworth, and the two talked about the scene. According to the story, Hemsworth asked the child what could make the scene more fun and the “friend from work” line was proposed.

7. Bob Denver Dressed as Gilligan To Let Kids Rescue Him From the Island

Gilligan’s Island was on TV from 1964 to 1967 but clearly left its mark across the ensuing decades. Star Bob Denver was tied to the character for the rest of his life and reprised it in 1992 as part of a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Denver, in full Gilligan costume almost 30 years later, went out on a boat with fans to be stranded on an island and then rescued by several of the kids who came along for the journey. It was probably a safe bet they’d seen a rerun or two and knew he needed a hand.

6. The Rarest Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Was From a Make-A-Wish Wish and Sold for Over $300k

Yu-Gi-Oh!, if you are not familiar, is a Japanese manga series, anime, card game, toy line, and so on and so forth. One of the most popular iterations is that card game, however, and some cards from the set can have incredible value. The rarest and most valuable card of all was part of a Make-A-Wish wish.

Back in 2005, 14-year-old Tyler Gresse asked to have his own Yu-Gi-Oh! Card. Not just any card, one made about him. The company that produces the cards fulfilled his wish and made the one-of-a-kind “Tyler The Great Warrior.”

He and his family got to meet Yu-Gi-Oh’s creator, he helped design the card and even went through the entire process of stamping and printing. No other living human had even touched the card besides Gresse.

In the world of collectibles, anything that there’s only one of automatically has value, but Tyler kept his card for 18 years, even as he overcame his extremely rare form of liver cancer. It was then he decided he might want to sell it to someone else who loved Yu-Gi-Oh! as much as he had as a kid. It ended up selling for an incredible $311,000.

5. Chris Rock Sneaked a Sex Tape to a Make-A-Wish Teen

As we’ve seen, kids have chosen a wide range of things to fulfill their wishes and, if Chris Rock is to be believed, one 15-year-old’s wish was to meet the comedian and spend some time together. It’s not entirely clear what the bulk of the visit might have entailed if it was to a movie set, a show, or just them hanging out, but there were some extras tossed in.

Rock told Jerry Seinfeld that he met with a boy and sneaked him a copy of the Pamela Anderson sex tape during the visit. The story was short and simple and also sad as he capped the tale by pointing out that the boy did not survive his cancer. Rock seemed convinced that his visit would have at least been a brief highlight before the end.

4. Ron Perlman Got Into Full Hellboy Makeup to Spend the Day With a Kid

There are a good number of comic book-related wishes being granted out there and some are more complex than others. When six-year-old Zachary wanted to meet the real-life Hellboy back in 2012, actor Ron Perlman was more than willing to help.

Hellboy’s makeup involves some extremely complex prosthetics if you want to do it right and, of course, everyone did. So Perlman, who was 62 at the time, went back to the same team that turned him into Hellboy for both of Guillermo Del Toro’s movies and underwent the full four-hour process to transform into the character.

After meeting Hellboy, Zachary also got to undergo a slightly less complicated makeup process to become Hellboy himself.

3. A 17-Year-Old Wanted to Hunt a Bear

It’s rare that a Make-A-Wish wish causes controversy, but it has happened. In 1996, a 17-year-old boy named Erik who had cancer had a wish he wanted to fulfill. He wanted to go to Alaska and hunt a bear.

As you can imagine, animal rights activists were not amused. One offered to give the boy, who had a brain tumor, a camera to shoot pictures instead. Actor Pierce Brosnan invited the boy and his family to the set of the movie he was filming at the time as an alternative.

Erik came from a hunting family so the act was something of significance to him. Despite protests, some of which got rather ugly, Erik went on the trip with his dad and then had to arrange a second trip after the first was unsuccessful. The second time they succeeded and killed a bear. He was able to enjoy several hunting trips for a few years after but sadly passed away from cancer at age 21.

2. San Francisco Was Turned Into Gotham For a 5-Year-Old

Back in 2013, there was a Make-A-Wish that captured the hearts of the internet and became an international story. A five-year-old boy with cancer named Miles Scott wanted just one thing – to obliterate Gotham’s worst criminals the way only the caped crusader could. He wanted to be Batman. And the Make-A-Wish Foundation pulled it off.

Thousands of people lined the streets of San Francisco to cheer on Batkid as the city was turned into Gotham for a day. Clark Kent literally wrote the front page story of the San Francisco Chronicle that detailed how Batkid saved the city.

Miles started his day with a plea from the mayor to come and save the day. He hit the streets and saved a woman tied to the cable car tracks; he apprehended the Riddler, paused for lunch, stopped the Penguin, and then went to city hall and got the key to the city. All while dressed as Batman, of course.

Ten years later, Miles is cancer free and living a less crime-fighting life with his family.

1. John Cena Has Granted Over 650 Make-A-Wish Wishes

Are you a John Cena fan? If not, you should be. Wrestler and actor Cena is not just killing it as Peacemaker in the DCU, he’s also absolutely dedicated to being there for fans. Not that it’s a competition, but if it was, he’d be sweeping the field with his wish-granting presence. He’s granted over 650 Make-A-Wish wishes with no sign of slowing down. If a kid wants to see that man, he makes time.

Cena hit his record-breaking milestone, that’s more wishes than anyone in history, back in 2022. It became a big story at the time and cynical folks might make a play for this being clout-chasing. After all, it sure makes Cena look like a good guy and we live in a world where doing good things can be considered bad if people think you’re doing it for attention, which is weird at the very least. But if that was a fear, rest easy!

WWE’s Paul Heyman has gone on record to point out that all of this publicity was not Cena’s idea. He didn’t want to make it a public thing because he didn’t want the recognition since it wasn’t about him. The WWE had to convince him to make a story out of it on the grounds that, if people knew how much time he devoted, it would encourage others to get involved with their time and money.

10 Over-The-Top Legal Name Changes https://listorati.com/10-over-the-top-legal-name-changes/ https://listorati.com/10-over-the-top-legal-name-changes/#respond Sun, 24 Mar 2024 10:05:52 +0000 https://listorati.com/10-over-the-top-legal-name-changes/

How much do you like your name? Have you ever thought your life would have gone a different way if your parents named you Maverick or Uppercut? It’s too late to know for sure, but it’s never too late to try your hand at something new if you really want to try it. Many places in the world allow their citizens to legally change their names if they want, so nothing is stopping you from being the next RoboCop St. Fightmaster if that’s your desire. If that sounds like too much for you, then check out these real, over-the-top tales of name changes.

10. A New Zealand Judge Took Custody Away From Parents Who Had Given Their Child a Stupid Name

No kid wants to be embarrassed by a parent but some parents seem like embarrassment is in their genetics. If you’re lucky, it only happens once in a blue moon and ends quickly so you can slink away to forget it ever happened. But not everyone gets lucky like 9-year-old Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii.

The girl was made a ward of the court in Australia after a judge deemed her parents were essentially idiots. The parents were in the middle of a custody battle when the judge learned the girl had been going by the name K, just that single letter because she was embarrassed by her name. It looks like Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii was literally her first name, just the whole silly sentence.

The judge stripped custody from both parents to legally allow the child to be renamed. He criticized the poor judgment of the parents pointing out how the name set their daughter up for ridicule and her refusal to use it proved his point. Her new name was not revealed to protect her identity and presumably, the custody was fixed afterward.

9. French Courts Forcibly Named a Girl Ella

Some people really like Nutella, which is basically cake frosting masquerading as food that once even claimed to be healthy until a lawsuit forced them to stop saying that. Nevertheless, being a chocolate and hazelnut spread, many people still like it. A couple in France liked it so much they decided to name their baby Nutella. That was the plan, anyway.

The French courts had to step in and deny the parents the ability to slap the dessert-themed moniker on their new baby. Some countries will not allow names for various reasons, and this one was denied because they felt the child would be made fun of. And, let’s be honest, she probably would have been.

The judge said it was contrary to the child’s interest to have a name that can lead to teasing. Instead, he forced the parents to name her Ella, which is at least in the ballpark. Interestingly, this didn’t seem to be the parents’ second choice. In fact, the parents didn’t even show up to the hearing, so the judge selected the name and made it so.

8. A Man Legally Named Himself After Every James Bond Movie

James Bond is a cool name thanks to the entire James Bond series of novels and movies. Everyone knows James Bond. He’s cool, he’s smart, he’s deadly. Women seem to enjoy his company. Good guy. And the name itself isn’t bizarre or anything, it’s just what it represents that has appeal, so much so that at least one man renamed himself James Bond and then took it a step further. Or a lot of steps further, actually.

In the UK you can legally change your name by basically just saying you changed your name. To make it official, you have to fill out a deed poll but that’s only a way of letting the government know you changed your name. You write down your new name on a form and give it to the government so they can change it for your ID and whatever else. It’s very easy.

A deed poll is how 23-year-old David Fearn changed his name to James Bond. But that’s just his first and last name. He gave himself a middle name, too. His full, legal name is James Dr No From Russia with Love Goldfinger Thunderball You Only Live Twice On Her Majesty’s Secret Service Diamonds Are Forever Live and Let Die The Man with the Golden Gun The Spy Who Loved Me Moonraker For Your Eyes Only Octopussy A View to a Kill The Living Daylights Licence to Kill Golden Eye Tomorrow Never Dies The World Is Not Enough Die Another Day Casino Royale Bond.

7. The Ultimate Warrior Legally Changed His Name to Warrior

If you were a fan of old-school ’80s wrestling, then you know the name Ultimate Warrior. With an explosive personality and a vascular, terrifying physique, the Ultimate Warrior became one of the biggest stars alongside Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage.  Part of the Warrior’s gimmick was that he was a little off-balanced and mentally not altogether. Turns out that wasn‘t all gimmick.

The real-life Warrior, Jim Hellwig, was known to be a petty, bigoted, angry man.  He once wished manager Bobby Heenan would die of cancer. He made racist and homophobic blog posts, insulted Hurricane Katrina victims, and even celebrated the death of Heath Ledger.

At some point, Hellwig decided life would be better for him if he left Jim behind and just became Warrior full-time, so he legally changed his name. He has two daughters and though Warrior passed away in 2014, the daughters still use Warrior as their last name.

6. A Dentist Legally Changed his Name to Painless

If you were a semi-crooked dentist working in 1892, how would you go about enticing customers into your business? Dentistry was not nearly so advanced back then and you can only imagine the pain someone had to be in before they’d go to some stranger and let them use pliers and other tools to yank rotten teeth out of their heads.

Pain was the name of the game for dentistry and Edgar Parker knew it. Word is he only graduated dentistry school because he begged the dean and he was just a terrible dentist overall. He began advertising painless dentistry, and he’d inject patients with diluted cocaine before pulling their teeth. Sometimes he’d just give them booze. He was one of the first dentists to actively advertise and solicit patients, which was deemed unethical at the time.

In order to reach a broader audience, Parker teamed up with a carny and made a dental circus. He traveled from town to town and had a plant in the audience he’d call up then pretend to work on, pulling a molar quickly and painlessly.  When real customers got on stage, he had a band play to cover their screams. Within two years he legally changed his first name to Painless so it wouldn’t technically be false advertising to advertise “Painless dentistry.”

5. Tutankhamun Changed His Name As a Nod to Old Gods

Of all the Egyptian pharaohs, Tutankhamun is probably the most well-known in the modern world. It’s kind of ironic then that Tutankhamun wasn’t the name he started life with. Originally he was Tutankhaten which means “living image of the Aten.” This was because his parents worshiped a god named Aten who was a sun god.

Aten was part of a pantheon of gods that are less familiar to us in the modern world. When he became king, Tutankhaten changed his name to Tutankhamun because he was embracing the older gods and thus Aten was replaced with the god Amun. Amun later merged with the sun god Ra to become Amun Ra, which is what most of us in the West know today about Egyptian mythology. But in Tutankhamun’s time, the name change was part of a process to restore the glory of the old gods

4. Anne Rice’s Parents Changed Her Name To Anne Because She Introduced Herself as Such

Anne Rice was one of the most popular fiction writers in modern history and her series of vampire novels have sold millions not to mention being the basis for movies and a TV series. Less well-known is that Rice was born Howard Allen O’Brien which you may recognize as an extremely traditionally male name. Her father was also Howard and her mother thought it was a great name so, despite the fact Anne was the second of five daughters, she drew the unlucky lot of being named after her dad.

As you might expect, as a girl Rice hated her name and refused to use it. She went to a Catholic school and introduced herself to the nuns there as Anne in the first grade. She stuck with it and since everyone knew her as Anne her parents changed her name in 1947 when she was six.

3. An Angry Bank Customer Changed his Name to “Yorkshire Bank are Fascist Bastards”

There is no shortage of stories throughout history of people getting angry at banks. Sometimes they have happy endings but more often than not they’re just tales about the banks screwing some average person and ruining their life. So how do you fight back? Most people can’t, but some people choose to do anything they can, no matter how hilariously petty.

Michael Howard was a customer of Yorkshire Bank when they sent him notice that he’d gone into a £10 overdraft. The notice came with a £20 fee. Angered by this, Howard did one of those simply British deed polls to change his name to Yorkshire Bank are Fascist Bastards

The bank was not happy with Mr. Bastards’s change of name and requested that he close his account. He replied that he would be happy to if they refunded his 69p balance by writing him a check using his legal name.

2. Macaulay Culkin Changed his Middle Name to Macaulay Culkin

You’re probably familiar with Macaulay Culkin, star of the original Home Alone movie and its sequel. He made it big as a child actor and Home Alone has become a classic. Culkin is an adult now and doesn’t do as much acting but still pops up now and then, including in some holiday-themed commercials in 2023 that parodied his iconic role.

What most people don’t know is that Culkin has a middle name, and he chose it after an online vote from fans. In 2018, he asked the internet to give him a new middle name for Christmas. His old middle name was Carson. After 100,000 votes came in on his website, the public had spoken and Culkin followed through by legally changing his name to what the people had chosen. Today, his legal name is Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin

1. Dr. Loki Skylizard Chose His Legal Name When He Was 8

In what may be one of the greatest name-change stories ever we have Dr. Loki Skylizard. Dr. Skylizard isn’t just a real doctor, a thoracic surgical oncologist who works in Missouri. He has a real MD and specializes in robot-assisted surgery for cancer patients. If you get Dr. Skylizard, you’re in good hands.

Skylizard, who is Puerto Rican if the name didn’t tip you off, was raised by some unusual parents. When he was a child, his parents allowed him and his siblings to simply choose their own names. At 8-years-old he picked Loki Skylizard and his parents legally changed it for him. He’s stuck with it ever since.
